A Busy Weekend…

What a busy weekend for the practice! On Saturday I teamed up with El Dorado Physical Therapy to work a charity event in Loomis, California. This was the first year for Connect 4 A Cure. It’s a biking event to raise money for both the Make A Wish Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Community. Considering it was their first year it went really well. It ended up being a really hot day in northern California but that didn’t deter the bikers coming out for their chosen  30 mile, 69 mile or 102 mile ride. 3 El Dorado Physical Therapy people rode the 30 mile and did a terrific job. People stopped off at our tent for massages, Chinese medicine health check ups and on-the-spot physical therapy. It was great to get out and meet new faces. Check out the website for Connect 4 A Cure here. And just look at all the happy faces at our tent! Hope your weekend went well too-

Remember this great poem? I may have loved it a little too much as a child and that’s why I’m an acupuncturist today…

You’re Full Of Beans!

Beans, beans, they’re good for your heart

(Ahem, this isn’t going where you think it is…)

The daily half cup you eat, the better your blood sugars are

The better they are, the better you feel
So let’s eat beans with every meal

Well, maybe not with every meal, but like it says, eat a half cup everyday of beans, such as white, pinto, kidney, garbanzo or black beans, (sorry, jelly and chocolate covered coffee beans don’t count!) and you can strongly lower your fasting glucose, insulin, and A1C counts. Better yet, include it as part of your regular high-fiber and low glycemic index diet and you could lower your A1C by an average 0.48% !

Here’s a recipe to get you started:
